Charcon, as we all know, are a large employer in the village. They currently employ around 80 staff including 5 apprentices. 70 % of these employees live within 5 miles of Lound.
Questions have been asked about recent sightings of pre-fabricated roofs that have appeared in their car park, so here is the answer. The product was manufactured at Charcon in Barnsley, and are to be transported to Surrey before the end of June. This is a one off process so no more will be seen once they have been transported from Lound.
The company have won a contract to supply pre-cast beams to a race track in London. They are now ready for transportation and will be leaving the village on 12 June. Villagers are asked to be a little more tolerant for more than usual activity for about 12 days and Charcon assure the Parish Council all lorries will be leaving during normal working hours. The process will cease on 24 June when normal activity will be resumed.
